Drunk Elephant (finally) lands in Japan!

Drunk Elephant (now owned by Shiseido) lands in Japan for October 1st, 2021.

If you are on Instagram and are interested in skincare, then you would be familiar with the fun, bright neon packaging and innovative formulas of the “clean” beauty disruptor brand, Drunk Elephant. Up until now Japan-based skincare fans have had to scour the web to find online stores that can deliver or wait for trips home to stock up on their Drunk Elephant products. That is until now, as the Drunk Elephant range puts the finishing touches on their Japanese launch at Isetan Mirror and Mitsukoshi online store Mecco from October 1st. Yippee!

So why has it taken so long?

It made headlines around the beauty world in late 2019, when Japanese beauty giant Shiseido acquired Drunk Elephant, the female-founded ‘clean’ beauty brand that was one of the fastest-growing prestigious skin-care companies in recent history, for an impressive $845 million. Of course famous for their prestige name-sake brand, Shiseido is now a global leader and owner of many well known Western brands like NARS, Laura Mercier and Bare Minerals.

Tell me more about Drunk Elephant

Is a skin care and body care brand founded by American stay-at-home Mother of four, Tiffany Masterson. After having suffered from all kinds of skin problems, Masterson identified six ingredients that she believed didn’t suit her skin. She then developed various skin care and body care items based on the “ingredient subtraction principle” that thoroughly eliminates essential oils, alcohol (ethanol), silicones, ultraviolet absorbers, fragrances / dyes, and surfactants (SLS). Drunk Elephant also proposes a unique way to mix multiple skin care items in the palm of your hand like a smoothie. You can interact with your skin every day and enjoy skin care with a recipe tailored to changing needs of your skin.
