Last month I wrote about my recent visit to EnoSpa and my experience of the amazing Beng Teng Hot Stone Treatment (you can read more about that here). I was so happy to spend the entire day relaxing at Enoshima after a really busy week in Tokyo, where I was meeting with the Japanese brands that I am now selling in the Tokyo Beauty Book online store.
A day visit to EnoSpa is one that I always enjoy, as it is so easily accessible from Tokyo and it really feels like you are getting away from the busy pace of big city life. After a quick lunch at Shinjuku station, I headed down to Enoshima on the train.
My schedule for the day sounds like just what the doctor ordered. After check-in I have some time to have a coffee and take in the views by the pool, before heading up to the Beng Teng Spa for a 110 minute spa treatment. After the treatment, I am completely relaxed and ready for a soak in the indoor onsen.
After all this relaxing the team at EnoSpa have kindly arranged for me to have an early dinner at the Island Grill restaurant, which I have not dined at before so I was eager to try it. The Island Grill is a seafood restaurant, which specialises in offering a healthy menu with a variety of options to suit all tastes.
When I enter the Island Grill the first thing I notice is the amazing position of the restaurant, located on the 4th floor above the outdoor pool, giving diners the perfect vantage point to take in the views of the ocean and Mt. Fuji (who unfortunately didn’t appear on this visit) and the pool area below.
I am greeted by the friendly Island Grill staff who show me to my seat at the clever window seat table, where they offer me the bilingual menu and explain the dining concept for the Island Gill. Specialising in fresh seafood, there are both buffet and à la carte menu options to choose from at the Island Grill, so there is something that will please everyone.
The Seafood & Salad buffet set (¥3,500) includes your choice of a freshly prepared seafood main dish and the healthy salad buffet. The a la carte menu includes a variety of delicious seafood appetisers like garlic shrimp (ranging in price from ¥700-1,800), pizza(¥1,980), pasta (¥1,980) and what looks like a very impressive Bouillabaisse (¥3,600) .
After careful consideration, I choose the Seafood & Salad Buffet set- selecting the red sea bream steamed in wine. While waiting for my seafood main to be freshly made I waste not time in visiting the salad buffet. Filled with carefully prepared vegetable side dishes, soup, rice and bread- I eagerly fill my plate with the colourful healthy and delicious salad dishes. The staff have carefully marked the “heathy options” on the salad bar for those who are taking particular care with their diet.
As I sit down to enjoy the view, I am taken with how perfectly the view of the horizon is to relax and enjoy your meal- I’m starting to feel very calm and perfectly relaxed.
My main dish arrives, the impressive presentation and aroma of the dish means I am eager to quickly take photos for this article before diving right in and enjoying the delicious dish. The red seam bream has been perfectly steamed with wine, mussels, tomato, edamame, herbs and olives creating a delicious sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed this delicious seafood meal- which was perfectly portioned to feel completely satisfied- but not too full. This is something the Japanese understand so well. Just enough food to enjoy the meal and not feel like you have overindulged.
I decline dessert although the selection looks delicious, and includes some of my favourite desert dishes, like tiramisu, cheesecake and matcha cake.
Dining at the Island Grill was the perfect way to round out a day spa visit to EnsSpa. Feeling relaxed, re-energised and re-fulled to finish of my week in Tokyo- I never regret taking time out to visit Enoshima Island Spa.
