Ainz&Tulpe Harajuku

2025 Update: Sadly, this Ainz & Tulpe Harajuku Store has closed. There are many other Ainz & Tulpe store in Tokyo. Check their official website for up to date information.

One Tokyo’s best beauty shopping destinations is Ainz & Tulpe store, in the famous fashion and shopping area Harajuku. Everyday crowds of locals and tourists alike, flock to the shopping mecca to see the latest trends in both fashion and beauty.

Located on the prestigious Omotesando Dori (very close to the Nike store), Ainz & Tulpe is a beauty lovers dream, with two spacious levels of the latest cosmetics, skincare and haircare brands. Both Japanese and imported beauty brands are on range, however there is definitely a focus on Japanese brands. The aisles are wide and the displays are less cluttered than at Japanese drugstores, so it makes it easier to take your time looking and trying the products before you buy.

As you enter the store there are the latest seasonal promotional and novelty beauty items, as well as a large display on the right side wall of some Japanese beauty products that are popular souvenirs for tourists, such as kabuki and Hello Kitty design sheet face masks and the famous Tsubaki oil. The Harajuku display is the perfect one stop shop for foreign visitors to quickly grab some Japanese beauty products.

On the left side of the store you will find a showcase of the Ainz & Tulpe Harajuku’s most popular makeup items. Checking out the most popular items is always my first stop when shopping at Aniz & Tulpe, as I’m always curious to see what the latest shopping trends are emerging. The Top 5 is broken down by categories like Mascara, Eyeliner, Base makeup and lip colour.

The first floor of the store has a large selection of mostly Japanese cosmetic and beauty products. Set out by category, there are mascara, eye liner, eye lash serums, coloured contact lenses, base makeup and lip glosses. This store is definitely a one stop beauty shop, that has pretty much every beauty product you have ever heard of.  You are encouraged to try the product testers, and there are lots of small mirrors, tissues on hand.

I particularly love the trying the testers for the false eyelashes that are provided. they are attache to a thin handle so that you simply place on top of your lashes so that you can see the effect that will be achieved. With the myriad of false eyelash styles on offer, this tester is really useful.

There is an impressive selection of haircare products on range as well, including some imported brands such as Kerastase, Wella, Shwarzkopf and L’Occitane. There is also a small range of hair accessories, hair rollers and curling irons.

If you are into doing your own nails, then you will absolutely love the selection of nail polish and nail art kits that they have on range. The wall of nail polish colours is really impressive, including large ranges of OPI, Nailholic, Orly and Essie. There are glitter, ombre, metallic, matte formulations.

On the B1 level there is a large selection of skincare products, they are mostly Japanese, but there are also some international brands like Avene and La Roche Posay.

The big Japanese skincare brands like SKII, Sofina, Kose and Kanebo, also offer skincare consultations in this store. A corner of the floor is dedicated to natural and organic skincare brands like Nuxe, Dr Hauschka and Lavera.

If you’re looking to update your makeup bag then visit the large displays of Japanese drugstore cosmetic brands like Kate, Visee, Maquillage and Excel. Each of the brand displays are big, in fact much bigger than at most drugstores, which means this Aniz & Tulpe has the full range of products and shades on offer. This is particularly relevant if you are a tourist or expat as you have a larger selection of shades of base colours to choose from than just the shade most popular with Japanese skin types.

Imported cosmetic brands such as L’Oreal, Maybelline and Rimmel also have great range of cosmetics in store.
